Mike Penning launches search for 'Best South Asian Restaurant' in Hemel Hempstead constituency

5 March 2009

Local Member of Parliament, Mike Penning is searching for the Best South Asian Restaurant to be the nomination from the Hemel Hempstead constituency (which includes Kings Langley and Markyate) in the 2009 Tiffin Cup.

The Tiffin Cup is awarded by a cross-party group of Members of Parliament called the Tiffin Club.

Each Member of Parliament can nominate the best South Asian restaurant in their constituency. The best of these will go forward to a national final which takes place at the House of Commons.

Residents can nominate their favourite restaurant either by completing a nomination form and sending it to Mike Penning at the House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA or by completing an online form on his website at www.mikepenning.com/tiffin . Nominations close on 20th April 2009.

The local winner will also receive a certificate from Mike Penning MP stating that their restaurant is the leading South Asian restaurant in the Hemel Hempstead Area.

Mike said:

“This is a great way for MPs to promote South Asian Restaurants and for local curry enthusiasts to support their local restaurant.

“Last year the Hemel nomination – Sitar in Boxmoor – received a commendation and was awarded with a special Tiffin Cup chef’s jacket.”

The Tiffin Cup will also raise money for a charity in India.

The national winner of the 2008 Tiffin Cup was Mint and Mustard of the Cardiff North constituency.
