The Secure Station Award recognises standards in station design, management, security and passenger safety and is awarded under the Secure Stations Scheme managed by the Department for Transport in partnership with the British Transport Police.
Mike Penning presented the award to Julian Drury, Route Director Silverlink County and staff at Hemel Hempstead station. After presenting the award, Mike was taken on a tour of the station and a train journey to Milton Keynes.
“The staff at Hemel Hempstead station have worked hard to achieve this award and I congratulate them on their efforts”, he said. “My visit here has been very useful and informative and we have also had the opportunity to discuss issues that concern passengers using the station and the Silverlink County services.”
Silverlink County also received a ‘Secure Station Award’ at Berkhamsted, bringing the total number of their stations that have ‘Secure Station’ status to 7.
