Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead, welcomes the decision of the House of Commons Health Select Committee to call David Law, Chief Executive of the West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust as a witness in their investigation into NHS Deficits.
The inquiry being carried out by this top-level committee is investigating the size of deficits, the savings each trust has had to make and the reasons for these deficits. They are also investigating the findings of the so-called ‘turn-around’ teams. Mike Penning said: “As a member of the Health Select Committee and MP for a constituency that is having its local hospital decimated due to the massive financial deficits in West Herts, I couldn’t think of anybody more suitable to give evidence to this senior committee than the Chief Executive of West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust, David Law. “I hope that we can gain as much information as possible into not only the size of the deficit but why we seem to have the same financial problems year after year.” David Law will join other Chief Executives as witnesses in this investigation at the evidence session on 22nd June. |
